International Day

Wow what a fun day! 

Today we celebrated International day. Most of the students from Room 13 got into the International Day spirit and dressed up for the day. There were some beautiful traditional costumes! 

Miss Pereira thinks it is important that we celebrate where we are from. She believes that our many cultures make our class pretty special! 

Do you know that we can sing happy birthday in 8 different languages!!   

Easter Challenge

Homework this week involved completing two Easter challenges. It is great to see so many fantastic Easter stories and creations turning up at school!
Today we were very lucky to have Zed and his father Brent demonstrate their Easter creation.
The children were amazed at the skill and creativity that had been used to complete this Easter egg delivery system.

Mathletics

Mathletics is now up and running in Room 13!

Mathletics is an online resource for developing knowledge and understanding in Maths. It is an interactive and ICT based option to help students enjoy Maths and improve their skill set.

To gain the greatest understanding of how Mathletics can benefit your child, we encourage you to spend some time looking at Mathletics with them.

Your child has 24hour access to Mathletics. By using their unique username and password your child can access the Mathletics website www.mathletics.co.nz .

Disco

Friday the 8th of March there is a international themed disco. Juniors (years 1-3) are from 6:00 to 7:00pm. Seniors (year 4-6) are from 7:15-8:15. Drinks, food and cool glow toys will be for sale. There is tea, coffee and cake for the parents in the staff room. 

How much? Entrance fee $3:00.

Where? School hall George Street Normal School.

YEAR 5 OUTDOOR ADVENTURE WEEK!!

During Week 4 year 5 Students Went On Outdoor Adventure week. They did swimming,rock climbing,Ice skating and Team building. lots of fun stuff happened that week. mrs spencer and mrs gardner ran this amazing program we would not have had such an amazing week without them!!

THE SPIRIT TAKING CEMETERY 

Last week we took a fearsome trip to the CEMETERY!

after a talk about the lonely cemetery we were sent to

discover the deaths of certain people.

despite the eerie atmosphere, we were not at all scared.

the cemetery was insanely fun!!!!!

every group had to find out about different people’s life/death.

they also had to find a huge statue of a maori head.

Moana Pool!

Last week we had super fun ADVENTURE WEEK  and one of the activities were swimming at Moana pool. All the Year Fives loved it. We did snorkeling, kayaking, diving, flippaball and life saving.

Road Safety

Road Safety

Constable Somerfeild has been coming to teach us all about road safety. This includes making sure your helmet is on properly, checking your bicycle is safe, and the road rules. He also came to help at Year 5 outdoor adventure week at cycle safety in dinosaur park. Some of us learnt how to ride a bike for the first time. A huge thank you to Constable Somerfield.
